14th Finnish Open, which was played at Energia Areena in the city of Vantaa, has just ended. The tournament faced numerous withdrawals due to flight limitations caused by volcanic ash. However, 92 matches were played during the tournament. The original number of matches scheduled for the tournament was 163. 96 players from 12 countries were able to participate to the unlucky tournament.

The men’s singles final was a match between third seeded Raul Must from Estonia and fourth seeded Ville Lång from Finland. Must controlled the match and took the title in 25 minutes 21-11, 21-10.

Anastasia Prokopenko from Russia took the women’s single title over Germany’s third seeded Karin Schnaase in two games 21-18, 21-18.

French top-seeded pair Sebastien Vincent and Laurent Constantin from France won the men’s doubles title 11-21, 21-17, 21-11 after a 55-minute battle against Russia’s Andrey Ashmarin and Andrey Ivanov.

Women’s doubles title was won by Elisa Chanteur and Barbara Matias from France. Top-seeded pair defeated young Finnish pair Jenny Nyström and Mathilda Lindholm in 25 minutes 21-12, 21-11.

Top-seeded Mikkel Delbo Larsen and Mie Schjott-Kristensen from Denmark also met the expectations of their seeding and won the mixed doubles final against Russia’s Andrey Ashmarin and Anastasia Prokopenko in two games 21-12, 21-18.
